Project Description
Project: Sydney Metro Light Rail Project
Client: Met One (Laing O’Rourke)
Date: 2010
Locaters Pty Ltd were engaged to provide a ‘sanity check’ assessing for high risk utilities, design clashes and engineering oversights associated to all underground utilities within the project footprint.
Our role was to get familiar with the utility networks impacted by the project then interview the different design and engineering disciplines to understand their knowledge and planning considerations.
Reporting directly to the Project Directors who were then able to evaluate the level of understanding amongst their team and in-turn determine risks and associated budgeting prior to tender submission.
Project issues:
- Tender package supplied incorrectly depicted existing utility networks
- Decommissioned substations and routes earmarked to be recommissioned
How we helped (the project was cancelled before our findings were complete):
- Gained a thorough understanding of client requirements
- Provided reports containing useful intelligence on how separate disciplines interacted
