Locaters Pty Ltd were engaged to provide locating, surveying and reporting of the existing subsurface utility network for the Early Works Clearance Zone package. This work was essential enabling work to prove the path of the proposed light rail corridor from Circular Quay to Randwick.

Our role was to collect and distribute subsurface utility information accurately and efficiently to the project management team including those from Laing O’Rourke , Transport for NSW and other consultants.

Project issues:

• Congestion of underground networks within the CBD
• High-risk networks including high pressure gas, optic fibre
• High profile environment working around the public
• Unidentified utilities
• Short windows of opportunity

Interesting Facts About This Early Works Project (between October 2014 & June 2015):

• Almost 1.3km of slot trenching surveyed
• 10,619 utility survey points measured
• 284 unidentified/unexpected and 487 expected pipes and/or cables were uncovered, surveyed and reported on
• Locaters were nominated for a supply chain forum award by Laing O’Rourke recognising our contribution to their project.
